Solitary recovering alcoholic Detective Mike Hoolihan (Patricia Clarkson) is called out to the scene of a possible homicide at an observatory. Jennifer, an expert on black holes and the beautiful daughter of wealthy veteran Colonel Tom Rockwell, has been shot at point-blank.
