What a strange summer this is proving to be! We are sending out our very best wishes to all friends of No6 Cinema, and we long for the day that we can be together again (at a safe distance of course). At this point, we hope to be back with a vengeance in October, so do watch this space.
In the meantime, to satisfy our cravings for new and exciting films, we have 2 brilliant examples available to stream courtesy of Modern Films. By streaming the films via the Modern Films website not only will we have an evening of entertainment, we will also be directly supporting our dear No6 Cinema, as 50% of the fee will be donated to us.
The first film is Family Romance, LLC (which stands for Limited Liability Company). It tells the story of a japanese ‘rent-a-family’ business and a man who is hired to impersonate the missing father of a twelve year old girl. This film is named Official Selection at the BFI Film Festival later this year and Special Selection at Cannes.
The second is The Traitor, the gripping true story of the man who took down the Mafia. This film is also Official Selection at the BFI Film Festival, and Official Competition at Cannes.
To watch either/both of these films, just head to www.modernfilms.com/watch and select your movie (or click on the above links to get taken straight to your film of choice). Once on the page, scroll down to the ‘Watch in Virtual Cinemas’ section and select No6 Cinema from the list.
I must say that I am intrigued by both movies, in particular Family Romance - the close-to-documentary style and the slightly bizarre subject matter have got me.
