Second screening of The Grinch

Back to all posts Don't be Grinchy. Scheme big.

I know I mentioned it a couple of weeks ago but just a reminder, because it’s not in the programme, that we have an extra screening of The Grinch on Friday 21st Dec at 4.15pm. It may superficially look as though it’s a children’s film but believe me it’s one for adults too. Don’t be grinchy, all tickets are £5.00, what’s not to like?

Sometimes, it’s better to choose your own family.

Thursday’s film this week sees Japanese film director Kore-eda very much back on form with Shoplifters: a delicately crafted film about the bonds of family life. One of the stand out film releases of the year is has received 5* all round.

Left with nothing, capable of anything.

For those who remember the 1980’s Lynda La Plante TV series Widows, this film will be a joy to watch on Friday evening, the question on all your lips will be who’s playing Dolly???? For those who didn’t see it you’ll just have to experience it on another level as a film directed by the Oscar winning superhero Steve McQueen with a screenplay by Gillian Flynn of Gone Girl fame.

Shake the chains that fall on you. You are many, they are few.

The protesters are complaining about taxation without representation, the French Revolution is in full swing in France….the natives are restless…..send in the big guns. Peterloo on Saturday night.

No.6 is taking a brief intermission - re-opening scheduled for May 9th

Loyal regulars will be aware that we have had a few technical issues with some of our screenings recently. We have been working to resolve these, and have been pleased that our most recent showings, including lengthy films like Dune: Part 2 and Apocalypse Now, have worked okay. But we feel it’s unfair on you to be crossing our fingers and hoping, we’d rather get things sorted properly.

The plan is to close for the next two weeks and hopefully return on Thursday 9th May. Keep an eye on the No.6 website and newsletter for confirmation or otherwise, and of course to find out what we will be showing when we do return. Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding.
