Making Waves Film Festival in partnership with the Faculty of Creative & Cultural Industries at the University of Portsmouth are holding a special event on Saturday 18 February in the Eldon Building at the University of Portsmouth looking at the future of the cinema viewing experience. Supported by BFI Film Hub South West, the day will include a panel discussion with speakers from the world of cinema and practical sessions on how to run a successful event.
The one-day event will focus on live cinema as the way forward for the cinema experience. There will be practical workshops to develop skills in event management, marketing and community cinema programming and a series of short talks and panel discussion with experts in the field of cinema exhibition including Tara Sachdeva (Compass Presents), Charlotte March (Creative Giants Art), Malisa Chafer (No6 Cinema) and Roy Hanney (Making Waves Film Festival and DVMISSION).
Roy Hanney Director of Making Waves Film Festival said:
"The landscape of cinema exhibition has changed over the last few years, in part due to the pandemic which saw a shift towards streaming and a general change in audience behaviour. At the same time, there have been a number of success stories for live, event, immersive and expanded cinema.
This special event is open to cinema fans curious to experience film is a new way and event producers looking for new ideas and opportunities"
