Back with a Wes-style bang

Back to all posts Asteroid City kicks off our Autumn programme

Holy moly, the summer never fails to race by, does it?? We are so excited to get back into our lovely cinema after the holidays. All the films for September are up on our website so head over for a browse if you've not done so already. It seems that sometimes the summer comes and goes without any film-based news of note, but this year the Barbie / Oppenheimer excitement spread far and wide. Finally we are able to show both in September (although we won't make you pick a favourite)..

The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.

We're kicking off the Autumn season on Friday 1st September at 7pm with Wes Anderson's newest film (not counting the short film The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar) Asteroid City. Sunbleached filters, whimsical symmetry and a wonderful ensemble cast - always a winning formula for Mr Anderson.

Barbie and Ken leave Barbieland and venture to California where they encounter the realities of being human.

The first of 2 showings of Barbie is on Saturday 2nd September, and as if screening twice in September isn't enough, we are so happy to be taking part in National Cinema Day on Saturday. This means that in celebration, we're selling all tickets for £3 a go! Cocktails in the bar beforehand (from 6.15pm) make for a lovely Saturday night at the movies.

Coming Soon...

A modern-day fairy tale and hymn to the healing power of nature and slow craft - The Nettle Dress followed by a recorded Q&A is showing Thursday 28th September at 7pm.

After the death of his beloved wife, textile artist Allan Brown embarks on a seven-year endeavor to weave a hand-spun dress from stinging nettles foraged in the woods surrounding his home.

No.6 is taking a brief intermission - re-opening scheduled for May 9th

Loyal regulars will be aware that we have had a few technical issues with some of our screenings recently. We have been working to resolve these, and have been pleased that our most recent showings, including lengthy films like Dune: Part 2 and Apocalypse Now, have worked okay. But we feel it’s unfair on you to be crossing our fingers and hoping, we’d rather get things sorted properly.

We will return on Friday 10th May with the classic 1966 Batman:The Movie.

Keep an eye on the No.6 website and newsletter for more information. Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding.
