Back to all posts Another varied selection of films this week at No6

Hello there and welcome to all our new subscribers and lots of enduring love to our long term subscribers and supporters. As I am sure that many of you will know, our bar provides an extra source of income that supports the cinema but is also a nice place to sit and meet friends before a screening. No6 is unique is so many ways and boasts the only cinema in Portsmouth where you can buy a glass of wine or beer to take into the auditorium to enjoy with the film. In these days of environmental awareness we are encouraging our customers to bring their own drinks receptacle that we can fill for them, needless to say, but it must be said, that it mustn’t be actual glass. Cheers folks, and bottoms up.

A gentle dog groomer finds himself in a dangerous relationship with a violent former boxer, on Thursday at 7pm

As all you dog lovers out there will testify, dogs have a lot more dignity and charm than many human beings. Dogman on Thursday from the director of Gomorrah will provide ample evidence of this fact.

Abandon reason. Question everything. On Friday at 7pm.

The Little Stranger on Friday night is a marvellous metaphor for the tensions and rigidities of post war Britain. A hypnotic and haunting tale with a fantastic performance by Ruth Wilson whose career just seems to soar with each role she takes on.

The power behind the throne, on Saturday at 7pm

Outrageously silly but satisfyingly to the point, 1980’s feminist revenge comedy….9-5 on Saturday night!

No.6 is taking a brief intermission - re-opening scheduled for May 9th is 6.30

Loyal regulars will be aware that we have had a few technical issues with some of our screenings recently. We have been working to resolve these, and have been pleased that our most recent showings, including lengthy films like Dune: Part 2 and Apocalypse Now, have worked okay. But we feel it’s unfair on you to be crossing our fingers and hoping, we’d rather get things sorted properly.

The plan is to close for the next two weeks and hopefully return on Thursday 9th May. Keep an eye on the No.6 website and newsletter for confirmation or otherwise, and of course to find out what we will be showing when we do return. Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding.
