Back to all posts Love films? Come and hang out on Saturday at the Love Southsea market.

We have booked a stand at the Love Southsea market in Palmerston Road next Saturday 5th Oct and would love to talk films with anyone who cares to drop by. We will be giving away lots of posters, and hopefully raising awareness of the cinema’s existence amongst the unconverted. We would also like to hear how people envisage the future of cinema in Portsmouth.

One mans struggle to take it easy on Thursday 3rd Oct at 7pm

What larks! Thursday’s film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off stars Matthew Broderick as a legend in his own lunchtime. From writer and director John Hughes, an actual legend in his own lifetime, this film manages to artfully wed satire, slapstick and social commentary into this cult film of the ’80’s.

The past never stays in focus, on Friday 4th October at 7pm

Romance on Friday night? Heck no! The Souvenir is a story based on anxiety, narcissism and opportunism.

Rough, tough Chuck Tatum, who battered his way to the top ... trampling everything in his path - men, women and morals!

Our Saturday night film is ‘A lurid pulp indictment of exploitation, opportunism, doctored intelligence, torture for profit, insatiable greed and shady journalism.” Ace in the Hole, Billy Wilder’s classic piece, a harbinger of our contemporary press, is part of our Dark Prophecies Season exploring the bleaker side of human existence. Do come, it’s a fantastic film.
