Good news - the fix is in! The technical adjustments we needed have been done… so we are coming back, baby!

Slightly less good news - Last week we said we hoped to re-open on Thursday 9th May but in order to confirm that all will be operating to the standard we (and you) expect, it will take ever so slightly longer before we feel happy to open, but…the delay is only for a day! That’s 24 little hours, and as Dinah Washington sang, "What a difference a day makes".  So we are now re-opening on Friday 10th May. And that means…

The Dynamic Duo faces four supervillains who plan to hold the world for ransom with the help of a secret invention that instantly dehydrates people.

Batman: The Movie

BIFF! BANG! POW! Friday 10th May at 7pm (with the bar opening at 6.15pm) it’s Adam West as the Caped Crusader in the classic 1966 Batman: The Movie. See the Dynamic Duo take on four of their most iconic baddies (Lee Meriwether, Cesar Romero, Burgess Meredith and Frank Gorshin - come on!) as well as an encroaching mountain of campy humour. Showing on the eve of Portsmouth ComicCon, and the ideal curtain raiser on a weekend of much needed escapist family fun.

The life and music of Amy Winehouse, through the journey of adolescence to adulthood and the creation of one of the best-selling albums of our time.

Back to Black

The very next night, Saturday 11th May at 7pm, it’s the long awaited Amy Winehouse biopic, Back to Black, with Marisa Abela donning the famous beehive to tell the story of the 21st century’s most iconic vocalist. We’ll be offering a specially concocted cocktail to add a stylish twist to the evening, and a dressing up competition with prizes for the best, so let’s see those bouffant hairdos, heavy eyeliner, snazzy dresses and any other accoutrements you can think up (that’s the blokes sorted, at least.)

A meek bank clerk who oversees the shipment of bullion joins with an eccentric neighbor to steal gold bars and smuggle them out of the country as miniature Eiffel Towers.

The Lavender Hill Mob

Another bit of good news - for those of you disappointed that the one day delay has scuppered our showing of the classic Ealing comedy, The Lavender Hill Mob, fear not! We will be showing this on Thursday 16th May at 4.15pm.

Please come and support No.6 at our end of season quiz!

A Year in Film - No.6 Cinema Fundraising Quiz

Can we really take any more good news? A Year in Film - No.6 Cinema Fundraising Quiz will definitely be taking place at 7pm on Saturday 1st June. Tickets are £15 including a glass of wine and table snacks, and a unique opportunity to be the envy of your friends. This week we can offer you two little tidbits of info…

  1. Films shown in November and December included The Great Escaper, Mean Streets, Killers of the Flower Moon, Anatomy of a Fall, Gremlins, Saltburn, The Red Shoes, The Muppet Christmas Carol and The Shop Around The Corner.
  2. We can reveal that, in keeping with our ‘Year in Film’ theme, there will be eight rounds, taking us month-by-month through No.6’s screenings since the summer break, from September (round 1) to a combined April/May (round 8). Plus some fun picture stuff as well.

Bookings for all the above - and for the rest of our May programme - are now live on the No.6 Website.

The next edition of the newsletter will return to the normal format, covering Batman and Back to Black with the usual mix of information, attempted witticisms and bonhomie. Be there!
