On The Website

Back to all posts The Alpinist is showing at No6 in November, hurrah!

Just to let you know that most of the films we will be screening in Nov/Dec are now up on the website for your consideration, approval and hopefully booking.

It has been an ‘interesting’ time trying to book films as most distributors run for the hills and hold back films when a new Bond film is out. Bond seems to squeeze all other releases out of most cinemas who are obliged to show it multiple times a day and in every screen. However, it is the much awaited cash-cow that all cinemas need very much at the moment. No6  will be showing it a couple of times and we know it will look magnificent on our screen, we also need to fill our coffers!

Other highlights include; The Alpinist for rock climbers, The Rescue from the makers of Free Solo and Dear Future Children for everyone who needs hope for the future.

The inside story of the painting that seduced the world. It’s not just art… it’s power, politics and greed.

Is The Lost Leonardo on Thursday a cheesy ‘male Mona Lisa’ and evidence of an absurdist farce?

On an isolated island in Brittany at the end of the eighteenth century, a female painter is obliged to paint a wedding portrait of a young woman.

Friday’s film is the story of profound female solidarity. Without showing a man on screen Portrait of a Lady on Fire depicts the myriad ways in which the patriarchy constricts the lives of its female protagonists.

It’s only a matter of time.

Here’s a warm up horror for Halloween….Saturday’s film by director of The Sixth Sense, Oldis based on a fiendish idea.

No.6 is taking a brief intermission - re-opening scheduled for May 9th

Loyal regulars will be aware that we have had a few technical issues with some of our screenings recently. We have been working to resolve these, and have been pleased that our most recent showings, including lengthy films like Dune: Part 2 and Apocalypse Now, have worked okay. But we feel it’s unfair on you to be crossing our fingers and hoping, we’d rather get things sorted properly.

The plan is to close for the next two weeks and hopefully return on Thursday 9th May. Keep an eye on the No.6 website and newsletter for confirmation or otherwise, and of course to find out what we will be showing when we do return. Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding.
