Back to all posts Can you believe The Iron Giant is 20 years old? Come see it at No6 this June

Did you know that Portsmouth Festivities is 20 this year? We have been collaborating with them for a few years now and this year is no exception. We will be showing three films that are also an astonishing 20 years old; Almodovar’s masterpiece All About My Mother will be screening on Thursday 20th June at 7.00pm, cult classic Fight Club screening on Friday 21st June at 7.00pm and something for all the family, the animated film The Iron Giant on Saturday 22nd June at 7.00pm.

The unmasking of a creative genius, at No6 on Thursday 2nd May

The title of ’National Treasure’ should instantly be bestowed on Chris Sievey who created the extraordinary, quirky and the ‘could only be British' character of Frank Sidebottom. Thursday’s film Being Frank makes having a large paper-mache head seem extremely cool. (Although rather hot inside I imagine!)

In 1961, a dazzling Rudolf Nureyev arrives in Paris and makes a choice that changes his life forever.

The White Crow on Friday night is a must for fans of ballet. Featuring Oleg Ivenko as Nureyev it also stars the bad boy of ballet Sergei Polunin, strutting their stuff in some beautiful moments of dance. Politics, Paris, plies and a glass of plonk from the bar, what’s not to enjoy?

Some bands can’t be managed... Find out more about the Fisherman's Friends on Saturday 4th May at 7pm

Inspired by the true story of an all-male folk band from the picturesque Cornish town of Port Isaac, Fisherman’s Friends on Saturday night will have you booking your stay-cation train ticket to Cornwall this summer.

No.6 is taking a brief intermission - re-opening scheduled for May 9th is 6.30

Loyal regulars will be aware that we have had a few technical issues with some of our screenings recently. We have been working to resolve these, and have been pleased that our most recent showings, including lengthy films like Dune: Part 2 and Apocalypse Now, have worked okay. But we feel it’s unfair on you to be crossing our fingers and hoping, we’d rather get things sorted properly.

The plan is to close for the next two weeks and hopefully return on Thursday 9th May. Keep an eye on the No.6 website and newsletter for confirmation or otherwise, and of course to find out what we will be showing when we do return. Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding.
