Fun at the flicks

Back to all posts The much anticipated cinematic return!

Having read some of the film news coming out of Cannes post film festival, it looks like there are some promising movies on the horizon for the coming year, exciting news as the pandemic meant rather a shortage of good indie titles. However, they are not quite with us yet so in the meantime we plan to have some fun with our upcoming screenings. Do hope you can join us for one or two of them.

Come and join us for this treat of a film, and support No6 at the same time!

Saturday 11th June at 7.00pm we will be screening Downton Abbey: A New Era. It’s always sunny at Downton Abbey but it’s even sunnier on The French Riviera and whilst a film crew takes over The Abbey, the Downty set decamps to the South of France. This film could be described as ‘The Marvel Cinematic Universe' for the senior set but does an excellent job of lifting everyone's spirits.

Bar will be open from 6.15pm for pink fizz and Rusty Sheriff will be playing a set of jazz age classics of the 20’s to get you in the mood.

The laughter. The lovers. The friends. The fights. The talk. The hurt. The jealousy. The passion. The pressure. The real world. Enjoy a glass of pink fizz for our last screening at Boathouse 6 before we close for the summer.

Pretty In Pink, the John Hughes’ bright ’80’s portrayal of High School life will be screening on Saturday 18th June at 7.00pm. Beautifully filmed and touchingly honest, enjoy this cult classic on the biggest screen for miles around. Again, the bar will be open from 6.15pm.

The Distillery will be serving drinks and pizzas for each screening and the marvellously modern LED screen means not having to wait until dark for the films. Tickets for each screening are limited as the space in The Distillery Courtyard is bijou. If you want to come, book sooooon!

No.6 is taking a brief intermission - re-opening scheduled for May 9th

Loyal regulars will be aware that we have had a few technical issues with some of our screenings recently. We have been working to resolve these, and have been pleased that our most recent showings, including lengthy films like Dune: Part 2 and Apocalypse Now, have worked okay. But we feel it’s unfair on you to be crossing our fingers and hoping, we’d rather get things sorted properly.

The plan is to close for the next two weeks and hopefully return on Thursday 9th May. Keep an eye on the No.6 website and newsletter for confirmation or otherwise, and of course to find out what we will be showing when we do return. Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding.
